The Intern will primarily be based at an out based location. They would be based at the school assigned to them. Sometimes they will be in the office to pick up/turn in supplies, paperwork, planning, and meetings
The Intern would be responsible for running a program once a week for one hour. They would have to plan a lesson for the week. Occasionally, they will have meetings with the Get Real staff to discuss the groups and upcoming events. There are also occasional trips that are planned for the girls during the weekend.
The Student is responsible for facilitating a program at a designated school. The Intern would work closely with the school, students involved in the program, and the mentors. The intern would also be responsible for keeping records of attendance weekly and grades given by the teachers at the end of each grading period. This would be with the help of the Get Real staff. Intern will be given a lesson plan guideline of topics to discuss each week, but can put her own ideas into the lesson to make it creative and interactive. The intern will have a required training that they will have to attend as well.

The student should like to have fun, be creative, and comfortable with handling girl related issues/situations.
What Major is most relevant to the internship (please list more than one)?
Majors that would be relevant are Education, Sociology, Psychology, and Social Work. Anybody interested in working with youth Development would be good for this position.
Expected hours for the semester: (min requirements vary by schools, but around 300):300

The Get Real Mentoring Program is a program developed to help young, at risk, females learn leadership skills, gain academic understanding and progress, as well as help with issues that young ladies deal with in today’s society. The Intern must be Female and the program runs for 40 weeks (a school term).
